BIM Manager

Job Location: Vancouver
Job Type: Full Time

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing the ongoing operations of the Kindred BIM department across a variety of projects ranging in size and complexity. The ideal candidate will have a diverse proficiency of BIM tools and processes, the ability to coordinate design intent both internally/externally and identify workflow efficiencies and conventions to ensure a collaborative project success.

The BIM manager will have the responsibility and oversight to advance existing models, produce/distribute/track project documentation and identify cost effective solutions in partnership with internal team members and consultants as they relate to construction methodology. It is expected that the candidate is able to converse with select project trades and, on occasion, visit sites located in the lower mainland, Squamish, Whistler and select locations on Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain company-wide BIM standards, protocols, and workflows leading to the creation of training materials for newly onboarded team members
  • Participate in recruitment & selection of Junior BIM team members
  • Train and mentor team members on the use of BIM-related software, tools, and techniques.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop, manage, and maintain BIM models and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide support to project teams/BIM Coordinators and assist troubleshooting specific project problems and details.
  • Review BIM project requirements to develop and successively refine Kindreds’ BIM Execution Plan.
  • Effectively manage BIM department & Coordinators who are responsible for producing the project related materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, innovations, and technological advancements to enhance BIM capabilities and project outcomes.
  • Chair BIM coordination meetings as it relates to model status, project progression, clash detection and exploratory solutions on multiple projects. (Commercial/Multifamily/Custom Homes)
  • Work with the IT Team to coordinate BIM software updates, and technical support to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
  • Regularly monitor and report on BIM implementation, performance, and goals to senior leadership.
  • Work with consultants, project managers and trades to align team expectations and meet project milestones.
  • Validate consultant and trade supplied models to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with industry standards and best practices related to BIM.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum two year technical Diploma from an accredited program in Architectural Technology, Engineering or construction management.
  • 5+ years of construction-related experience including 4+ years’ experience working as a BIM Specialist, VDC related experience, or similar.
  • Expert knowledge of, and proven practical background in, VDC/BIM related software configuration and deployment.
  • Proficient with modeling software including Sketchup, Rhino and Revit; and coordinating software inclusive of Navisworks, Revisto, BIM 360 and AutoDesk Construction Cloud.
  • Strong project management skills with the demonstrated ability to prioritize project workloads with the flexibility and openness to work collaboratively amidst changing priorities and timelines.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience of integrated project workflows and project management controls.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and a general understanding of MS Project/Primavera.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to team members, clients, consultants and trade partners, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and work with a degree of autonomy.

Salary: $80,000- $110,000 annually
