UBC Baseball High Performance Training Facility

Description

This one-of-a-kind 12,500 SF baseball training facility provides a year-round training environment for the UBC Thunderbirds as well as a variety of youth camps, leagues, and community programs. The facility features batting cages, a pitching area, offices, a community room with retail space, and a viewing deck to watch games on the adjacent baseball field.

This training centre was built using an innovative building structure comprised of concrete foundations and a glulam and an LSL composite tilt-up panelized wall system with drop-in-place, prefabricated roof panels. Light wood framing was used for the small scale support and office spaces. The facility is one of the first ever to use a mass-timber tilt-up wall panel system as a means to cost-compete with traditional tilt-up concrete applications.
