Vienna House: Designing a Resilient Community by Passive House Accelerator

Vienna House: Designing a Resilient Community by Passive House Accelerator

The City of Vienna, renowned for its affordable housing, was the source of inspiration for the Vienna House project in Vancouver, BC. Vienna’s leadership in Passive House construction inspired a Vancouver City Councilor to connect with representatives from the City of Vienna, exploring solutions to Vancouver’s rising housing costs and how this model could be adapted to local construction projects. A partnership between the two cities to develop best practices in sustainable construction and affordable housing. There are two multifamily projects underway: the Vancouver House in Vienna and the Vienna House in Vancouver. Built to Passive House standards with prefabricated timber, Vienna House will set a new benchmark for low-carbon, climate-resilient urban living.
